Project Description

Country: Malawi

Location: Malawi Africa

Total Budget: $8,000

Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment

Activity Type: Health: General

Summary: Provide orthopedic surgery equipment to the general hospitals in Malawi

The purpose of this District Grant is to raise money for the development of water wells (bore holes ) for the CURE Hospital in Blantyre, Malawi, Africa.

The Hospital currently has 2 holding tanks for water, each providing a 1 day supply of water. When the local City supply of water fails due to broken piping or pumps the Hospital must shut down.

the CURE Hospital is the only Hospital in Malawi equiped to handle crippled children and other orthopedic problems.

I have worked in this Hospital as a Rotary Volunteer over the last 15 years and can attest to the high quality of care provided and the extreme need for an independent supply of water for their needs.

A full engineering report has been completed and is available for review as are the cost estimates.
