Project Description Country: USA Location: Homer, Alaska Total Budget: $1,700 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Health: General Summary: The prooject Homeless Teen Shelters is to fund twenty one-man tents and twenty sleeping bags provided to homeless teens of Homer, Alaska. It has come to the attention of Rotary Club Homer Downtown that there is an ongoing condition of many teens being homeless in Homer and surrounding area. They do not have any night time shelter to get out from under rain and winds. This is especially true during the summer months when their winter shelters are being rented to tourists, or being reoccupied by those returning for the summer. Project Homeless Teen Shelters will meet said needs by using project matching grant funds to provide individual teens with a one-man tent and a sleeping bag. Club members will be involved by raising matching funds and by helping to distribute the sleeping bags and tents. They will also provide information to these individual teens information as to where they could use their tents and sleeping bags.
