Project Description Country: USA Location: Greeley CO Total Budget: $8,000 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: Furnishings for a new Community Building at the Poudre Learning Center in Greeley CO There has been a community effort spearheaded by Rotarians to build a Community Center for youth and adults to gather in an area where nature, animals and humans interact. There have been over 25,000 visitors to this area in the past year. Many of the area schools have field trips to the PLC. There are also many family groups along with groups of seniors from the life care centers in the area. The old building was far too small to accommodate many of the groups. A 5,000 square foot building will be completed in the spring of 2017 as part of the 100 year celebration of the Greeley Rotary-Downtown Club. There are 7 Rotary Clubs participating in this leadership effort. The proposed District Grant project would be to purchase chairs to be used in the new building. This will not require much hands on effort. PLC staff will identify an acceptable chair for conferences etc. Rotary will make arrangemnets to order and have them delivered in spring of 2017. We plan to have the Rotary wheel placed on each of the chairs. Depending on the cost of the chairs, we may include the purchase of tables if funding permits. The chairs cannot be purchased until there is a place to store them. There have been some delays in getting all the building permits issued. The building is scheduled to be completed late spring 2017. We are in the process of selecting the chairs and storage carts.
