Project Description Country: USA Location: santa Ana/Newport Beach Total Budget: $3,960 Areas of Focus: Water and sanitation, Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: One day field trip for second or third grade students from 3 Sata Ana schools to Sea Base facility Field trips at Sea Base in Newport will be conducted for up to 5 classes from Santa Ana Grade Schools. Students, Rotarians and Teachers will spend the day learning about Water cycle from rain to garden and bay. They will examine specimens from Bay mud for marine Creatures, single cells and plants etc. It is a total immersion and hands on activity for all. The project has been approved by Santa Ana Unified School District for basic sciences and learning. The trips will be conducted one school at a time starting in Oct. 2017 and ending by March 2018. Funds will be used to pay Sea Base Fees and transportation from School to Sea Base. Students from Hoover Elementary had their field trip on January 19, 2018. Hoover School Students enjoyed their trip day on January 26 while Taft Elementary went on February second. Feed back from Rotarians, teachers, parents and students was ecstatic and very encouraging.
