PROPOSAL SCHOOL FARM TO STIMULATE FOOD PRODUCTION BETWEEN WOMEN AND YOUNG PEOPLE.

Identified Problems.

In El Salvador, there is a low food production. Practically, all the food - including the basic basket - is imported from other countries. The high prices of food makes that at least 50% of populations - who live on poverty conditions - have limited access to them, what lacks their nutrition. Being the most vulnerable groups women and children.

On the other hand, the agricultural production at the country, it is still traditional products like: corn and beans, in most of the zones, the small producers are still resistant to diversify the production with non traditional products and with that, have a better use of their land and improve their income.

Proponed Solution.

Installation and Functioning of a Farm School at town Dos Quebradas, San Vicente - where OEF also has loans services to micro enterprises and attends children and teenagers on high social risk, supporting their performance and permanence at school. At the Farm School will be taught how to produce vegetables an other non traditional products, like loroco, ant the reproduction of livestock species like: chicken and peliguey, between others, to at least 150 women and teenagers who are leaders at their communities every year, initially the ones who lives at the Para central area of the country, expanding to the rest of it.. This way the participants can make the cultivation and breeding, at their own lands, making sure of nutritive food production for their own and selling at the same time the exceeding production, what would improve the family income. But the Farm School building is still in process, needing between other things, the building of a space for chicken production. .

Expected Results.

• Improving the nutrition of participant families.
