Project Description Country: USA Location: United States Total Budget: $6,170 Area of Focus: Economic and community development Activity Type: Community Development: General Summary: To purchase computers for Clare House residents located in Anchorage, Alaska To provide computers for the Clare House to assist the resident women with children and expectant mothers over 18 and to help them in their transition from homelessness to independent living. The timeline is to acquire the computers when the funds become available and to be completed by 5/1/2014. Most women coming to Clare House have little knowledge of how to use a computer. Therefore, Rotary members will be needed to provide on-site computer skills training to the Clare House residents. Rotary volunteers are also needed to establish longer term relationships with Clare House residents to assist/mentor the women as they gain the skills necessary to move to economic self-sufficiency and stable housing. The newly renovated Clare House will allow for stays up to two years rather than the current limit of 30 days.
