Summary: To provide a picnic where prospective adoptive parents can meet and observe foster children eligible for adoption.
The purpose of this project is to provide a venue and support operations whereby Texas Department of Family and Protective Services can bring foster children in Tarrant County Texas and potential foster parents that have been approved to adopt children together in a secured environment for the purposes of interacting with the children and ultimately matching children with parents and parents with children. March 22, 2014 is the target date. The estimated adoption process takes a certain period of time. For each child adopted, the burden to the State of Texas tax payers is reduced. The Arlington clubs all participate in this annual project, and it takes several weeks to organize. Club members volunteer in all aspects of the project, including security, operations, food preparation, and children's activities. Project funds will be used for: picnic food, picnic supplies, gift bags for the foster kids (90), arts and crafts, game prizes and supplies, t-shirts for foster kids, photo shoot supplies. Most Blessed Sacrament Church, in North Arlington, charges a small fee for use of their facility for the day.
