The San Diego (California USA) - Tema (Greater Accra Ghana West Africa) Sister City Society West African Computer Initiative (WACI) Project
The San Diego (California USA) - Tema (Greater Accra Ghana West Africa) Sister City Society (the Society) has requested our support of $1,000 to match their secured $1,000 toward their participation with the Sister City International/Africa Region West Africa Computer Initiative (SCI-WACI Africa) designed to provide 10 computers with fully loaded with Windows 10, Rachel Educational software, which meets Ghanaian Educational Standards and can run on or off-line, plus warranty, staff and instructor training and tech support over the 3-years program. Chemu Secondary School is the project benefactor, located in Community 7, Tema Ghana, West Africa. The Chemu Secondary School has 2140 students and a computer laboratory that can accommodate 60 computers, with less than 20 operating computers on their campus.
The SCI-WACI Africa project is administered by EVCO-Africa (Entire Village Community Organization-Africa) with offices in the US and Accra, Ghana, 19 miles from Tema. Over the past 17-years, EVCO-Africa has facilitated computer literacy for over twenty thousand school children per year in rural Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, and Egypt, most of whom would not otherwise have access to a computer.
If the Society's secured $1,000 is matched by a $1,000 District Grant, it would secure $2,000 toward the purchase of two computers ($1596 with visible club recognition) and the ancillary cost of Community Assessment ($250), the first-year of three-year project computer warranty $220 (= $2066). The San Diego (California USA) - Tema (Greater Accra Ghana West Africa) will meet the $66 shortfall for the matching District Grant.
