Summary: A cabinet with assorted free supplies available on campus for teachers at Sedona Red Rock High School
Manzanita Outreach a non-profit organization serving the Verde Valley has completed its second year of providing cabinets of school supplies to seven area K-8 schools. Many teachers pay for supplies out of their own pockets and many students coming from families in need do not have the necessary basic supplies to complete their schoolwork. In partnership with Manzanita Outreach, Sedona Red Rocks Rotary will furnish a fully-stocked supply cabinet as the "pilot" project at a high school level campus.
Project funds will pay for the heavy-duty cabinet ($1,330), complete initial stocking with assorted supplies ($1,226), and, based on their established usage records, one typical cabinet re-stock ($400). Manzanita Outreach has established a wholesale, bulk purchasing account for the supplies and is able to buy them at substantial savings. On a per-unit basis, this model saves 40-50% over even big box discount pricing. The list of supplies provided have come from teacher surveys and requests along with a strict protocol for inventorying and re-stocking the cabinets which is done by Manzanita Outreach staff. The cabinets are kept in a secure campus location with teacher/staff only access and are lockable for weekends and holidays.
Sedona Red Rocks Rotarians will have the opportunity to assist hands-on with Manzanita Outreach's annual "Green Bag" collection drive which, in August, solicits donations of school supplies. Club members will also help with the initial stocking and delivery of the "pilot" cabinet to Sedona Red Rock High. Red Rocks Rotarians will also volunteer in organizing and operating an event where supplies collected but not used directly in conjunction with the cabinets are available for no-cost shopping for all local teachers. Press releases and photos of the cabinet's delivery to the high school and associated events will be sent to all local news outlets. A recognition plaque on the cabinet will ackowledge Sedona Red Rocks Rotary as its donor.
Timeline would run from purchase of the cabinet as soon as grant funds are available, through the no-cost shopping event in mid-August to the initial re-stocking of the cabinet (an average of 60 days after delivery). Project will be complete by no later than Nov 15, 2022.

Manzanita Outreach, our partner organization, has determined that there is a greater need for the school supply cabinet at Sedona Charter School than at Sedona Red Rock High. The faculty at Sedona Charter indicates that having the supply cabinet will be "game changing" for their teachers and parents. Per Rebecca Wilks via email - an amendment of location of the cabinet to Sedona Charter is OK. All other terms and conditions remain the same.
