Project Description Country: USA Location: Jerome, Idaho Total Budget: $25,000 Area of Focus: Maternal and child health Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General Summary: Christmas food and gift baskets for low income families in Jerome, Idaho For more than 20 years the Jerome Rotary Club has gathered, assembled, and delivered Christmas Baskets with food and toys to needy families in the Jerome community. Families are required to fill out an application that demonstrates financial need. Families who qualify are provided with a large box of food that includes all of the supplies necessary for a Christmas dinner (turkey, ham, potatoes, rolls, vegetables, etc.) and 2-3 gifts for every child in the family. Food baskets are also provided to needy elderly members of the community. For the last several years, the Jerome Rotary Christmas Basket project has provided baskets to more than 300 families annually. Club members are involved throughout the year in raising funds and gathering donations for the project. Club members spend multiple evenings and weekends in December sorting and wrapping toys, assembling delivery boxes, filling boxes with food and, just prior to Christmas day, delivering the baskets. Although the Jerome community is supportive of the project through donations of food and toys, the Jerome Rotary Club spends more than $25,000 annually to support the project. Please adjust the DDF portion of your project financing to reflect this. You can increase the club contribution to the project or reduce the overall size of the project so that the financing will equal the budget.
