Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Mesa

Total Budget: $3,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: After School Program for Vulnerable/At-risk Students

The Making Every Student Accountable Program is Run by the Mesa Police Department in Partnership with The Mesa Unified School District to help at-risk youth at Kino Jr. High take responsibility for their education. M.E.S.A. Afterschool Program is in its 15th year and using curriculum lessons and daily mentoring to focus on

program values of Teamwork, Integrity, Perseverance, and Leadership. Physical conditioning, community service

projects, and work with community presenters assist youth in building positive self-esteem and learning leadership

skills to be used throughout their lives. Having a Youth Development Police Officer participate and mentor youth

through the nine-week program ensures that students develop a lifelong understanding that officers are in the

community to serve and keep them and their families safe.

Congratulations! The Rotary Foundation has approved our block grant, which means we'll have the funds soon.

As you know, you must wait until this point to spend any grant funds. Your final report, which is due April 30, must include

receipts for the entire budget of your grant (gather them as you go along, please) dated August 4 or later. The report form is

available in the Foundation section of rotary5495.org. Please be sure your bank information is up-to-date so there is no delay

in sending the funds by electronic transfer. This information, as well as questions about when you'll receive the money, should

be addressed to our District Treasurer, Lucinda General at treasurer@rotary5495.org
