Project Description Country: USA Location: Phoenix, Arizona Total Budget: $4,000 Area of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment Activity Type: Health: Volunteer Services Summary: Purchase of med. equip. for use by entry level med. students to assist those without insurance coverage. Club members raise funds for the purchase of a medical grade Power Rack which we have identified as a piece of medical equipment for use by Gateway Community College entry level medical students for physical and occupational therapy for community residents following injury or surgery. These patients have lost their insurance coverage or could not afford to purchase it. This equipment will aid in the practical application of health care by the students and enable the recovery of injured, but uninsured, patients. Upon purchase and installation, our members will visit the college, examining the equipment in place and learning how the students use of the Power Rack enables the patients to recover quickly and safely from injury or surgery.
