Project Description Country: USA Location: Buckeye Arizona Total Budget: $4,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Decodable books for K-3 at Buckeye Elementary, designed to improve phonetic reading. Currently at the Buckeye Elementary downtown campus 30% of the kindergartners are on track to meet or exceed the State reading requirements for 3 graders. Another 30% are on the cutting edge of also making this achievement , leaving another 40% that needs additional help. The decodable books will help all 3rd graders meet or exceed the Arizona State mandate. this is a long term project , not a one year goal. Buckeye Rotary was honored by the Buckeye Elementary School staff for the support given to literacy to the downtown campus. Buckeye rotary will continue to support this cause in the future. Our support is recognized in the school's social media and by the superintendent.
