Summary: Heat Alarm System for K9 Vehicle for Valentine, Nebraska, USA Police Department
The Valentine community has identified a need for a new drug dog to be part of the local police department to help detect illegal drugs. Two major highways intersect in our community and transporting of drugs via these highways is known to be happening. The grant funds will be used to purchase a heat alarm system for the K9 vehicle. This system is for the safety of the police K9 so if the K9's partner is away from the vehicle and it becomes too hot, the system will turn on the siren and lights and roll down the windows of the vehicle. Club members support the purchase of the drug dog and will raise additional funds, if needed, to make the drug dog a reality. Plans are in place for the department to purchase the dog and send the handler to train with the dog this fall. The project will be completed in September or October, 2022.
