Project Description Country: USA Location: Kearney Total Budget: $5,035 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Dolly Parton's Imagination Library is a book gifting program that mails free books to children from birth until age 5. Our club will offer the Dolly Parton Imagination Library to enhance literacy development. It increases childhood and family literacy by mailing monthly children's books directly to children (birth to age 5) residing in the Kearney community. The Dolly Parton Imagination Library program provides and mails the books. Children receive a total of 60 books over a 5-year period. Our Rotary Club recruits the children, secures the funding and pays the monthly cost of books with our Kearney Area Community Foundation partner. The program is administered using the Dolly Parton Imagination Library software system. The project budget for year 1 is $5035 for up to 320 children. It will be up to our club to continue the funding for future years.
