Project Description Country: USA Location: Chula Vista Total Budget: $2,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: General Summary: Providing support for child care and before / after school care programs The South Bay YMCA sponsors a host of programs for families and youth such as before and after school programs, literacy programs, homework assistance, physical education, and camps. The focus of the South Bay YMCA programs is to reduce economic disparity, improve the mental, emotional and physical health of the community, and provide support for families. Rotary Grant funds will be used to provide scholarship funds for both child care programs focused on foster and homeless youth and before and after school care programs at local elementary schools by December 2022. Rotarians will donate school and playground supplies through a monthly service event in the spring of 2023.
