In the town of St. Paul, Ne space is often limited for individuals who desire to have a garden in order to raise their own plants outside. Whether this be for fruits, vegetables. flowers or other.
The Rotary Club of St. Paul, NE is in the process of establishing a community garden. A community garden will offer people in our community a place to grow plants of their choice. We plan to offer small plots (10'x20', and multiples of) free of charge to whomever is interested. We currently have 2 2-acre areas available from the City of St. Paul. We plan to choose the one with the best access to water and most easily accessible to the community. The initial funds from this grant will help finance fencing, access to water, materials for a storge shed and garden tools which will be available to the community gardeners. We also plan to have small "pollenator garden" plots throughout the area. We plan to have the majority of the work completed be Fall 2022 and be ready for the first planting by the community in the Spring of 2023.
We plan to involve the entire Rotary Club of St. Paul in various aspects of this project including: the initial planning, fencing the perimeter, marking plots, tilling, establishing irrigation, maintaining equipment and working with our community gardeners.
