Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Denton. Tx

Total Budget: $3,000

Areas of Focus: Disease prevention and treatment, Maternal and child health, Community economic development

Activity Type: Food/Agriculture: General

Summary: Denton Community Food Center to obtain new equipment for onboarding and tracking new clients.

Project Impact:

In 2021 DCFC distributed food to 7206 unique (unduplicated) Adults and 3948 Children representing 3600 different households. These clients made 13,996 visits to the Food Pantry for assistance under the current COVID-19 guidelines and qualification policies. Obtaining the food assistance is the bottom line (1.36 million pounds of food capable of making 1.13 million meals for local families). However, for DCFC to obtain this volume of food we have to be able to track and ensure qualified individuals are receiving the assistance. The computers requested in this Grant are the first part of this process. Reliable and dependable computers (minimal downtime) will dictate the success of the project. It will allow us to track Adults and Children served as well as pounds of food distributed.

Community Impact:

As a part of our on-going assessment of needs (equipment, volunteers, supplies) to meet the demand for services in our community we have identified the need to update our Intake/Interviewer computer systems. The volume of transactions and the statistics that are tracked make this point of record keeping critical to our success in the community. It is also very important to our organization maintaining transparency and a high level of trust with our donors.

Project Overview:

Replace/Upgrade the desktop computers used at Intake to Interview, Qualify and Track clients requesting food assistance. These computers were last replaced in 2017. Reliable and efficient computers are necessary to provide service to the community. They provide the data entry, tracking and look up of information to manage the day to day operations of the organization. The goal is to maintain relatively current desktops that are reliable and sufficiently fast enough to conduct efficient interviews with clients as quickly as possible to meet the increase demand for assistance. The funds will purchase at least three and hopefully four basic Dell Desktop computers (OptiPlex 3090 or better) with associated keyboard, mouse and monitor.
