The Palapa Society of Todos Santos, A.C is a Mexican non-profit organization based in Todos Santos, Baja Sur, Mexico. The Palapa School Secundaria (Jr. High) and Preparatoria (High School) provides high quality language, art, science and math studies that meet and exceed the SEP (Secretaria Educacion Publica) certification requirements. The school offers scholarships and financial aid to approximately 100 local youth enabling them to attend a full time accredited school with an emphasis on STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Mathematics) preparing them for professional careers, colleges or university upon graduation. The Palapa School has a well equipped science lab and math curriculum. This grant is a request for $1000 US for 2 LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Robot kits ($500 US each including shipping & handling). 6 kits have already been purchased through other funding and the request is for Rotary to fund the purchase of 2 more kits to complete the program. In addition, Ardice Farrow, a Pilot Knob RC member will volunteer her time to create a service program to train students on how to present powerful and effective presentations at Science Fairs, Community Events and LEGO competitions and develop basic organizational and management skills. The Pilot Knob Rotary Club will make a contribution of $1000 US ($600) by our Club and ($400 DDF) to purchase and cover the cost of shipping for 2 LEGO Education SPIKE Prime Robot kits.
