Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Dallas

Total Budget: $3,000

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: Scholarship

Summary: A scholarship for one year for one student with limited funds in Fort Worth, TX.

This scholarship project will support one (2) scholarship to a student from one (2) East Fort Worth area high schools

The long range focus of this project is to support general education as well as economic and community development in the East Fort Worth community our club serves. Short term, our goal is to support development of a college-going culture, college readiness, and increase the number of students going on to post-secondary education, among students from Fort Worth ISD Polytechnic High School which has a high percentage of Title I-eligible students. This grant-funded project will support a scholarship for one(1)student to attend Tarrant County College in the Fall of 2023. A member of the Club's Service Committee will work with the Principal and staff to promote the scholarships and counsel eligible students through the admission and enrollment process at TCC. School personnel will identify students to apply for the scholarships. The Club Service Committee will review applications, conduct interviews, select, and announce recipients and alternates in April 2023. Recipients are expected to complete the TCC registration process no later than June 1, 2023.

The Club will make payment to the TCCD Foundation no later than June 17, 2023. The TCCD Foundation, in turn, will make payment to the College. The student must be enrolled as of the 12th day of classes each semester to receive scholarship funding. In cases where students are not enrolled, funding will go to an alternate.
