Summary: Expanding Stephenville Rotary's Grant Reach to First-Time College or Trade School Students
Each year, Stephenville Rotary grants money to high school seniors who are planning to attend community college, university, or trade school for the first time. In the past, we have given five $1000 awards (some years, six) out of our annual flag-posting fundraiser. We aspire to expand our grants to include students from local smaller high schools that have fewer opportunities for such grants. We plan to announce the grants before the end of the school year, with a view to sending the money ($500 each for books their first semester/s) to at least sixteen (our funds matching the district's grant) students' schools in their student accounts. We understand that the reporting needs to be completed by the last week of June 2024, so we will require students report to us their University Identification Numbers as early as May 2024 until June 1, 2024.
Addendum to Project Description (added after the project was signed)
We would like to edit our club contribution to match the district grant ($2880) and total budget to be $5760, even though our ultimate goal hasn't changed (to give 16 students $500 each for a total of $8000). This change will relieve some of the pressure to have 100% of the students to have their University Identification Numbers determined by June 2024. With the revision, only 12 students would have to have sent us the required information so we can send checks and have complete reporting materials by the district's deadline.
Paid
This project is "Paid". This means that the funds from the district have been issued. This project is now being ready for implementation. When this is done, a report needs to be uploaded on the project page and the "Reported" button needs to be clicked, then the status of the project will be changed to "Reported".

Our club had originally planned on awarding a total of $6000 to "Leaders of Tomorrow" grant recipients ($500 each to 12 students). We received $2880 from the District, which wasn't quite half of that $6k; we had planned to donate the other $3120, regardless. We only had ten applicants, though, (not twelve) and so we planned on awarding $5000 instead. Unfortunately, one of those students did not secure a university I.D. number in time, so we only awarded nine students $500 each (totalling $4500). Having received $2880 from the District, we are prepared to return $630 back to the District, if directed to do so.
