Project Description

Country: USA

Location: Meridian, ID

Total Budget: $3,500

Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy

Activity Type: Education: General

Summary: This grant would be used to work with the Meridian Tomilson YMCA to implement a Everyday Leadership program at a Title 1 school in the Ada West School District.

This will be a collaborative effort between the Rotary Club of Meridian and YMCA to coordinate with the Ada West School to identify and implement this program in a Title 1 school.

The grant would be used provide schoolteachers and YMCA instructor to provide the classes, community service projects, transportation costs, and supplies (including volunteer events, snacks, celebrations material, etc.).

Rotarians will work with YMCA leadership and Ada West to identify a title 1 school to champion the program. Rotarians will play a central role in organizing, facilitating, and funding the project. During the school year Rotarians will meet with the students to discuss what they are learning and talk to them about what they are learning and how they will use it in the future. Rotarians may also be involved/assist with transportation if needed.

We had this program shown to us at one our lunch meetings this past year. We were impressed by the integration of the YMCA and school district and the impact the program has on the students. We look forward to seeing the results in our community.

Budget:

Instructor Costs (Wages, FICA, Overhead Costs): $3164.42

Milage and Transportation: $67.66

Supplies (volunteer events, celebration materials, snacks): $231.82

Note from YMCA to our Club: I am Andrew Fletcher, our Executive Director, and I hope we get the chance to meet each other. I know the principal (Heidi) and Kristin have loved having the Everyday Leadership program at Ustick Elementary. I hope we can continue this success and grow it. Right now we have 13 different schools and see such an amazing impact these young leaders are making. I am privileged with the opportunity to go to Twin Falls on May 3rd and share with other rotaries the success we have had and how we help to instill great leadership in our youth. We are also looking at embedding the 4-way test into more activities.

Thank you for uploading documents for this project. The two invoices do not show any record of payment for these invoices. Also on the final report you show an expenditure of $3500 but one invoice is for $1875. Please make changes to the final report to reflect this. It sounds like you had a very successful project. Congratulations. I have reverted it to paid so you are able to make these changes.

Good morning, Thank you for uploading the revised final report. That's great, however, I still need proof of payment, A copy of the check (with account numbers crossed out) would work perfectly. A letter from the recipients acknowledging payment would also work. I will then be able to close out this grant.
