Project Description Country: USA Location: Phoenix AZ Total Budget: $2,970 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: 792 dictionaries will be distributed to 3rd graders in the Roosevelt School District in Phoenix AZ. Roosevelt School District encompasses South Phoenix. Teachers are looking for community involvement and tools for learning. Although tablets are in use in classrooms, teachers have told us they incorporate the dictionaries in their instruction. Dictionaries are allowed for Aptitude tests whereas tablets are not. The Kyrene Rotary Club plans to use the funds to purchase the dictionaries in the fall of 2024. Around 90% of the club is involved in scheduling, labeling, or passing out the dictionaries in the classroom.
