The Long Beach Animal Care Services has been overwhelmed with rising cost and need due to the shelter's occupancy being over capacity since the pandemic.
This is our third annual Mutt Run, with the 2024 event more than doubling the number of participants and the money raised. We also facilitated the adoption of a dog from the shelter.
The project funds will go toward the race director's fee, city permit fee, medals, awards, and t-shirts.
Nearly every club member participated in the event this year, helping us recruit sponsors, coordinating with vendors and volunteers, and setting up and taking down the booths and banners on race day. Many of our club members participated in the race themselves with their dogs.
