Summary: Sponsor 6 high school students to participate in the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp in Idyllwild, California, USA.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) is an intensive leadership experience where high school students develop skills as a leader while having fun and making connections. Our club plans to sponsor 6 students to attend RYLA 2025 camp in Idyllwild, California. High school participants will benefit from this experience by building their communication and problem-solving skills, they will discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader in their school or community, the will learn from Rotarians, community leaders, inspirational speakers, and peer mentors to unlock their potential to turn motivation into action, all the while having fun and forming lasting friendships. Students are identified by teachers and school administrators in the Newport-Mesa School District and then interviewed by 3-4 Rotarians from our club after submitting a written application. The selection of RYLA participants is based on a combination of financial need, academic record, prior record of community service and future leadership potential. Each year members of our club also participate in various roles at the RYLA camp. After these students attend RYLA, we will invite them to come to a club meeting with their parents and share their experiences with us. We look forward to sharing the magic of Rotary with these 6 students!
