Project Description Country: USA Location: Fort Worth, TX Total Budget: $3,000 Area of Focus: Basic education and literacy Activity Type: Education: Literacy Summary: Dictionaries provided to 3rd grade students at 8 elementary schools in Fort Worth, Texas. We have appointed a 3 person Dictionary Committee from our club.They will obtain the names of all of the third grade students in 8 lower income elementary schools in western Fort Worth. Once the total number of dictionaries required has been determined, the dictionaries will be ordered.Upon receipt, a group of club members (usually about 8-10) will place labels with the name of the student and the 4 way test in each dictionary. The dictionaries are then presented to each student at a school assembly. The dictionaries will greatly help the students improve their language skills. For some of the students, English is not their primary language.
