Update on children

At present we have 15 children in our care (9 girls and 6 boys), with five children currently on leave of absence. This means they are still legally in our care while they are awaiting the paperwork for their adoption or foster care to be finalised. We are unable to fill their spots while they are on leave of absence as we still account for them to the Department of Social Development.

In 2017 we had 3 adoptions and 2 reunifications with biological family.

Our eldest child who turning 19 years this month is currently doing her Grade 12 year. The employment of a tutor to assist her has resulted in her marks improving some by up to 30%. She is also attended a netball tour with her schools first team during the holidays in George in the Western Cape.

Five girls and one boy in The Kings School which is a huge blessing as it is across the road from their house and excellent education with Christian values being upheld in the school.

We currently have 2 babies (one from each house) who are not yet in school.

We have started homeschooling three of our children who have struggled in the school environment both socially and academically. A qualified teacher and a volunteer run the programme which is currently highlighting their challenges and giving us the ability to ensure that they are improving slowly in their academics.

Thank You

On behalf of everyone at Oasis Haven we wish to thank both Rotary and Oasis Haven US for the very generous donation of $14 300 received in 2017. This donation enabled us ensure that our children were given an excellent standard of education. All children progressed to the next year in 2018 and we are confident that the investment in their education is going to have a positive impact on their prospects as adults once they leave our care.
