Rotary Club: Rancho Bernardo (San Diego) Project Title: 3rd Grade Dictionary Project 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Dictionaries were distributed to 3rd grade students in the Poway Unified School District. A total of 3,000 students received dictionaries. The distribution took place over a period of a month, scheduling was made through each of the individual schools. 2. How many people benefited from this project? Over 3,000 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Beneficiaries included members of the Rotary Club of Rancho Bernardo. There was a book labeling party on a member's home allowing for fellowship. Following the labeling Rotarians went out in teams to the schools to make the presentation. This offered opportunity for Rotarians to visit school in their area and obtain an appreciation for the educational system. The students all benefited by receiving their very own dictionary and were given exposure to the good work by Rotary 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 50 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. 1. They made the actual distribution to the schools 2. They participated in fellowship by gathering for dictionary label party. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? The various elementary schools participated by opening their doors to us and allowing us on campus to make presentation and distribute the dictionaries. 7. Income
