Project Title: Vietnamese School Support


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The project was to replace damaged floor tiling and purchase some equipment for the Ngoc Lien Province Private School in North Vietnam. The flooring was replaced in the school entry and in four classrooms.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 200+ Students, teachers and community members

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries are the children at the school as well as the teachers who now have a greatly improved school in which to learn and teach. The school is also used as a community center when school is not in session so the improvements serve the entire community.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 2

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

One Del Mar Rotarian administered the grant request; the other Del Mar Rotarian arranged for the transfer of funds and supervised the spending.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

Tony Comito of St. James Parish in Solana Beach is a longtime and trusted friend of Del Mar Rotarian, Marty Peters. Tony hand carried the funds to No. Vietnam and oversaw the work at the school.
