Project Title: Community Street Clock


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

El Cajon Rotary Club has purchased a 4-sided Street Clock that will be installed in the City of El Cajon Prescott Promenade to enhance the ambiance of the community promenade and to celebrate the service of the El Cajon Rotary Club since 1926. Each face will show the official Rotary Wheel. Clock project activities continue as it will take 2-3 months before delivery and installation.

2. How many people benefited from this project? The downtown El Cajon area, it's citizens and visitors.

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The promenade is a popular gathering place on Main Street in downtown El Cajon. Community concerts, farmers markets, weddings, etc are held there. People mingle on a daily basis including some of our homeless. The clock will add to the peaceful and serene ambiance of the area - and everyone will know the time.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? The members of El Cajon Rotary Club

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

They participated in the planning, architectural design, and fund raising. A committee was formed to work with the the El Cajon City Manager and Director of Public works to insure an appropriate plan that the City Council could and did approve.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

The City of El Cajon was very supportive.
