Rotary Club: Susitna Project Title: Elder Safety and Security 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Installed safety and security features at Wasilla Area Seniors Inc (WASI.) In September we constructed a dormer over the gas meter and installed snow brakes to prevent ice from sliding off the roof and hurting someone. In October we purchased and installed a video surveillance system to provide security on the senior campus. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 200 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Hundreds of MatSu residents use the WASI complex, including the seniors that reside there, and the many others that enjoy the programs offered by WASI. This project eliminates the threat of ice falling on people as they come and go, and provides video surveillance of the campus to reduce impact of falls, theft, collisions, etc. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 12 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.
