Project Title: 3rd Grade Dictionary Project


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The Club purchased Webster Dictionaries designed for elementary students at a deep discount to distribute to 3rd grade students in the Poway Unified School District.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Over 1000

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The primary beneficiaries were the 3rd grade students. Everyone received their very own dictionary to keep. But additionally the teachers benefited by having the engagement with students and Rotarians making presentation as well as the schools themselves.

The objective of this project is to encourage students to read and enjoy the gift of words.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 50

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

Rotarians were involved in work project to place the "4 Way Test" labels in each book. The labels serve as a name plate for students to write their name in the book.

Additionally each dictionary was personally handed to each child by Rotarians at their schools.
