Rotary Club: Chula Vista-Eastlake Project Title: Pumpkin Smash for STEAM 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Our club donated money to LabRats who sponsors the South Bay Pumpkin Smash. The event was held on Saturday, 11/3 at Eastlake Middle School in Chula Vista. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 100 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Elementary, Middle and High Schools students benefited by participating in this event. They formed competition teams that worked for many weeks and months in advance of the event with their teachers to design and build a contraption that met technical specifications. The hands-on project reinforces the learning in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math. On 11/3, they competed within their like level for accuracy in throwing. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 11 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. 11 members supported event. We helped with the event set-up and tear down. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? LabRats was providing the overall project set-up and administration. 7. Income
