Rotary Club: Santee-Lakeside Project Title: Santee Santas Goes Online 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? The project was to acquire laptops, scanners and printers to streamline the application process by allowing scanning of documents as the organization moves to an online application process. Many of the recipients have difficulty accessing technology to gather the necessary items. The laptops, scanners and printers can be used year after year to allow Santee Santas to help as many people as possible. The equipment was obtained in late August, 2018 to allow the project to take advantage of a sale that was offered by the equipment vendor (best Buy) who worked closely with us to allow for a maximum discount wherever possible. 2. How many people benefited from this project? More than 250 families each year 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Santee Santas benefited with a reduction in their paperwork workload in identifying those families that would qualify for their services. The community benefited from the ability to apply for assistance from Santee Santas more easily and in some cases, without the need to travel to a specific physical location to make application. The entire process was streamlined and easier to use from both the applicant and the provider standpoints. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 17 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Worked with Santee Santas and the programmer to identify the equipment needs and development of the system to meet the needs of Santee Santas. Worked to develop a plan to identify and secure the equipment needed. Identified the proper vendor and worked to secure discounts for the purchases. Helped in bringing the project online. Worked to help secure donations from outside the Club so that the financial needs of the project would be met. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? Santee Santas. They identified the need and worked with programmer to bring the project online according to their needs and specifications. 7. Income
