Rotary Club: San Diego Project Title: R.I.S.E. 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? RISE was our annual event that connects local Interactors with SDSU Rotaractors. It began at about 9am and ran the length of the day. RISE featured keynote speakers along with collaborative workshops that focussed on professionalism, public speaking, team building, leadership, and goal setting to allow students to believe in themselves and see what future accomplishments await them after they leave high school. We also included a college panel and a service proposal segment, where groups of students came together to present a service project that they could take back to their schools. It took place on March 24 at the Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union, SDSU. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 50 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? RISE was aimed to impact the lives of high school Interactors. Our goal and mission for the event was to educate high school students on what Rotaract is, along with showing them beneficial ways to better themselves in various areas. It was a time for high school students to see college as an exciting period of growth where friendly faces like Rotaract members thrive. We want to see our communities excel, and feel that getting the next generation excited about service above self early on is the best way to do so. We even had a couple students tell us that they were more likely to consider attending college after the event. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 3 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. We had a couple Rotarians help out with driving students up from Baja California and assisting with check in. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? 7. Income
