Rotary Club: Anchorage South Project Title: 3rd Grade Dictionaries 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Our project was to purchase and deliver dictionaries to all third graders in the Anchorage area. This has been completed with all the Dictionaries being delivered. The project was completed over the last three months of 2019. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 135 students 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries were all the third grade students in the Anchorage Area and in Cordova. They were impacted by having a well constructed reference book and for some this was the first book they owned. The humanitarian need met was the encourage student to read and research issues. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 43 Rotarians 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. The individuals who participated divided the dictionaries into school groups, put stickers indicating the dictionaries were provided by Anchorage South Rotary and then delivered them to the individual classrooms. In the case of the Cordova students one of our members took our foreign exchange student from Chile to Cordova allowing him the opportunity to see another part of Alaska and tell the students about his country. 6.
