Project Title: Student Thesaurus


Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

We purchased and distributed Thesaurus and Dictionaries to third and fourth grade students in the Poway Unified School District. The distribution was made to the schools and was performed over the months of October thru January.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 3500

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries of this project was huge. The kids who received the books were the primary beneficiaries, but also the classroom and individual teachers. They now have their very own books to take home and use when they wish. The teachers benefit knowing the kids have access, while the school benefit by providing dictionaries & thesaurus's to the students at no cost to them.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 75

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

We gathered together to affix labels in every books to identify this is a gift from Rotary. This allowed a pleasant fellowship opportunity. Further Rotarians were involved in the physical distribution of the dictionaries to all the schools.
