Rotary Club: El Camino Real (Oceanside) Project Title: Operation Hope 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? We purchased and prepared meals each month at the Operation Hope Homeless shelter in Vista, including Christmas dinner. There are about 45 residents and volunteers at the shelter any given night that are served a meal. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 450 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Residents of our County that were experiencing Homelessness benefited by a hot meal provided by our club once per month. We as Rotarians benefited in getting to know the community that spends on average 90 days at the shelter getting ready to be on their own again. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 19 rotarians and their families participated, with an average of 6 per month 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. We purchased a meal that was as nutritionally sound as possible within the budget and served it to the residents. We also took time to sit down with the families and get to know them. Many were surprised as they said other meal providers did not sit down and visit with them 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? Operation Hope runs a Homeless shelter in Vista CA where the residents reside. We also used the First Lutheran Church of Vista's commercial kitchen to make a ham and all the fixings dinner on Christmas Day. It was kind of them to allow us access on a holiday. 7. Income
