District Grant Final Report

District 5010

2020-21

Rotary Club: Anchorage East

Project Title: Trafficking Survivor Needs

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

P-3393 was an anti-human trafficking project designed to address and support the basic needs of human trafficking victims upon rescue from their situation. The primary fundraiser for club funds came from the 2020 Rondy Rotary Beer Festival.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 10+

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries are survivors of human trafficking in Alaska who are being helped and supported by "Priceless," which is the anti-human trafficking initiative of Love Alaska. The funds contributed by Anchorage East Rotary and the matching district funds are being used to purchase Fred Meyer gift cards that are used to acquire clothing, food, and hygiene products for human trafficking survivors when they enter the Priceless program.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 35-50

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

Rotarians form across the district came together in the planning of the 2020 Rondy Rotary Beer Festival and volunteered the day of the festival. This included monthly planning meetings, volunteer coordination, brewery & restaurant outreach, contracting vendors, etc. The day of the festival, volunteers drove vehicles to deliver pizza, helped support breweries with their needs (poured beer, hauled ice, dumped buckets, etc.), slice & serve pizza, register attendees, count votes for awards, etc.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

Greater Anchorage Inc. (Aka: Fur Rondezvous) was responsible for helping us to brand and market the event as part of the 2020 Rondy Winter Festival.
