District 5340

2020-21

Rotary Club: Rancho Santa Fe

Project Title: The Kids Kingdom Orphanage

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The grant money was used to do a major renovation of the kitchen facilities at the orphanage. The project was in Maneadero, near Ensenada in Baja California, Mexico. The project took place over several months at the later part of 2020.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Between 40-50

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The beneficiaries were the approximately 35-40 orphaned children who live full time at the Kids Kingdom Orphanage, their caretakers and staff. The facility serves 3 meals a day to these people. Prior to the renovation, the kitchen had several health and safety issues and was a danger to the residents. These issues were addressed. They now have a beautiful, safe and healthy environment in which to eat and be together.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project?

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

With Covid we were unable to participate directly other than providing financial support.
