Rotary Club: Del Mar Project Title: COVID-19 Relief Gamru School 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? This grant provides cell phones, SIM cards and SIM card recharging for students and the principal of Gamru Village School in Dharamsala, India to ensure students have online access and their learning can continue whether the physical school is open or closed. In the global Covid-19 environment, online study is crucial for students to stay current with academic curriculum when schools are closed. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 22 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries are 21 students and the principal of Gamru Village School. The devoted teachers of Gamru Village School are doing their best to continue teaching in this unfortunate environment. Those students who did not have cell phones are now able to continue their learning online. This grant leveled the playing field for these students who are already disadvantaged as a result of their poverty. They were positively impacted by the ability to continue their education. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? Five: two from RC of Del Mar and three from RC Dharamsala. 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Dugan and Philippe Lamoise of Rotary Club of Del Mar visited the school in 2017 and continue their connection with School Principal Meenakshi Sharma and the local Rotarians. They also keep updated on school projects and developments during the year through direct communication with Ms. Sharma and through social media. Rotarians form Rotary Club of Dharamsala provide ongoing counsel to the school administration. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? N/A 7. Income
