Rotary Club: Santee-Lakeside Project Title: Ectlc 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Club members participated by donating money to ECTLC to purchase the items that are most needed for those they serve, including toiletries and food. The Director of Community Development spoke at a club meeting to share information about their programs. Annually our club holds a "Give a Sheet" event to collect toilet paper for the organization. Additionally, our club will be volunteering at their site in May 2021 to assist them with facility clean up and beautification. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 40 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Homelessness is a chronic problem in San Diego. There are approximately 8,000 homeless individuals in San Diego County and over 1,000 of those live in East County. A lack of affordable housing, addiction, and mental illness each play a substantial role in causing individuals and families to become homeless. The East County Transitional Living Center (ECTLC) provides transitional housing, emergency housing, job skills development, opportunities to earn a GED, case management and linkage to other resources which provide a hand up to individuals and families, enabling them to secure permanent housing and become productive members of our community. 4.
