Rotary Club: Point Loma (San Diego) Project Title: Orphanage School Supplies/Equi 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Corazon de Vida Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit located in the USA. They provide financial and material support for 10 orphanages in located in Baja, Mexico. This specific project is for Continuing Education Program to support the Juan Bosco School located in Tijuana, Mexico. The Juan Bosco School, is a small private school that provides elementary and Jr. High schooling to orphaned and abandoned children. The source of students come from from 3 orphanages in the surrounding area. Approximately 40% of the children have learning disorders and/or mental disabilities. This project provided: student desks (tables), chairs, computers, toilets and sinks, text books, projector and uniform clothing. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 40 students 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The beneficiaries are orphaned and abandoned children from three (3) orphanages. The children are receiving an education that otherwise has not been provided adequately by the government. Humanitarian needs servered are education and basic sanitary. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 1 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, only one visit was possible. Point Loma Rotary member and project leader Alina Gordon, was able to make one (1) visit to assist in the installation of furniture and computer equipment.
