District Grant Final Report

District 5010

2021-22

Rotary Club: Anchorage

Project Title: RBI Alaska Program

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The Mountain View Baseball/Softball Indoor Facility Project will design and build a new facility in Mountain View that would allow year-round baseball and softball training for underserved kids living in Northeast Anchorage. This project will provide healthy activity and mentorship, as well as a warm place to go, for neighborhood kids in need. We ask that the Club provide support in this Rotary year to purchase equipment for the facility. For 2021-2022, the combined $8,000 allowed RBI Alaska to add fastpitch softball capacity at the facility, which will support equity of use, and invigorate girls’ athletics in underserved neighborhoods. Currently RBI Alaska players are almost all boys, and there is untapped softball demand in the Mountain View/Fairview neighborhoods.

2. How many people benefited from this project? Estimated 1,000 + future use

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?
