Rotary Club: Encinitas Project Title: Project Mercy 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Project Mercy is an Organization that constructs solid and secure homes to improve the Quality of LIFE for impoverished families in Tijuana Mexico. Twenty five members of our Encinitas Rotary club on April 30,2022 crossed the border to Tijuana and in one day under the supervision of project mercy built a home for a deserving family 2. How many people benefited from this project? The family of eight that we built the house for, of course. Plus, all 25 Rotarians & 6 Interact Club members involved! 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The impoverished family of 8 that had been living in a cardboard house and all Rotary volunteers. It's unbelievable to think that families just across the border from San Diego exist in such poverty. Providing the basic need of shelter from the elements was unbelievably rewarding to all involved. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 25 this year. Our club has been involved with Project Mercy for almost 20 years 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Besides financial support for all building supplies, we did the construction, including putting up walls, rafters, roof, shingles, windows, doors, painted both inside and outside. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? Project Mercy poured the foundation slab the week before our build, and provided two local contractors, who provided supervision on the day of our build. 7. Income
