Rotary Club: Chula Vista-Eastlake Project Title: Food 4 Kids Backpack Program 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? When combined with the generous donors to the Food Bank, support from Rotary will enable more than 200 CVESD students to be enrolled in F4KBP. This means they will receive a weekly bag of food plus a family pack once a month to see that they have the basic necessity of food to carry them through the weekend when school meals are unavailable. Because of the F4KBP, these local students will return to school nourished and ready to learn. CVESD has students whose last full meal of the week is Friday's school lunch and then they go home to empty refrigerators and sparse cupboards over the weekend. These students often return to school hungry and unable to concentrate on learning or developing positive interactions with their peers and teachers. F4KBP relieves this situation by providing a weekly bag of food to students in need for 36 weeks during the school year. School staff identify and enroll students and distribute food weekly 2.
