Rotary Club: San Diego

Project Title: Hoover Cardinals Scholarship

Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

The City Heights Rotaract club qualified for a $500 grant & Rotary matched another $500 (1000 in total) in pursue of granting a $500 scholarship to two graduating seniors who embody the Rotary Motto "Service Above Self" in written essays.

2. How many people benefited from this project? 2

3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met?

The two students who were selected for the Hoover Cardinals Scholarship expressed the difficult challenge that most of us Rotaractors personally experienced growing up in this same community; immigration, financial hardships, family set backs, etc.

Thanks to the District Grant, these two students now have financial support for their future educational expenses. They are on track to attending 4 year universities and now have a commitment to 'Service Above Self' in their lives.

Both of these students also expressed an interest in being involved with Rotaract.

4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 0

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

This project was made possible by Rotaractors.

6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role?

Thanks to Herbert Hoover High School for the opportunity to give back to the High School we once attended!
