Rotary Club: Point Loma (San Diego) Project Title: Piña Palmera A.C. 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? The project took place at Pina de Palmera, A.C. (www.pinapalmera.org), facility in Playa Zipolite, San Pedro Pochutla, Oaxaca. México. The project provided wheelchairs, wheelchair repair kits, special needs bed, ergonomic chairs, special needs bed and water cistern to continually serve the 635 people of all ages with physical, intellectual, hearing, visual and psychosocial disabilities including rehabilitation. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 635 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? The organization support 635 people of all ages with physical, intellectual, hearing, visual and psychosocial disabilities including rehabilitation. The majority of recipients are indigenous and live in extreme poverty in the Oaxaca Mountain region. The recipients are people of all ages with disabilities who require physical therapy due to physical pain, injuries to the muscular, skeletal or neurological systems including rehabilitation after a surgery and other medical intervention. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 1 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Rotarian Alina Gordon made several visits to organization for 1) needs assessment. 2) She provided technical assistance and support after recipient received grant equipment. 6.
