Project Description

1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place?

Grant was used to provide much needed backpacks and school supplies to students Grades K-6 @ Balboa Elementary School. Back to school refreshments were also provided for the teachers.Funded $500 Earl B.Gilliam scholarship for student studying law. Reading Across America provided new reading books to students at Sherman Elementary. WSA Holiday Food Baskets provided food for families with limited or no income.Teacher Appreciation Day for Morse HS resulted in a relaunch of thier Interact Club and participation in Model UN & RYLA.

440 Students Grades K-6 at Balboa Elementary Literacy & Education

5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project.

Rotarians shopped for items, packed backpacks with school supplies and attended 1st day of school to participate in handing out the bags. Rotarians shopped for items, helped pack food boxes and assisted in delivery to the families. Rotarians participated in Reading Across America by reading to classes at Sherman Elementary.
