Rotary Club: Poway-Scripps Project Title: Warrior Bonfire Program 1. Describe the project. What was done, when and where did project activities take place? Warrior Bonfire Program provides opportunities that improve the lives of enemy combat-wounded veterans—Purple Heart recipients—on their lifelong journey of recovery and healing. We create activity-based, small group retreats that foster healing, build support communities, and transform lives. 2. How many people benefited from this project? 958 3. Who were the beneficiaries, how were they impacted by this project, and what humanitarian need was met? Purple Heart veterans - combat wounded. Bonfire retreats provide opportunities for wounded veterans, in small groups of six, to enjoy a favorite activity while partaking in the camaraderie and therapeutic value of spending time around the bonfire with fellow veterans while promoting Post-Traumatic Healing and the building of support communities, fostering healing and improving lives. 4. How many Rotarians participated in the project? 1 5. What did they do? Please give at least two examples, not including financial support provided to the project. Rotarian Dave Parker helped lead the California Dreamin' Bonfire in September. He provided transportation, food shopping and cooking, and activity arrangements for the local participants of this Bonfire. 6. If a cooperating organization was involved, what was its role? Warrior Bonfire Program provided overall leadership, planning and organization of the bonfire. 7. Income
